I was filling up the monkey-mobile the other day and I could feel a sharp stabbing pain when I went to pay. Let me tell you, it was a real pain in the butt (my back pocket being where I keep my wallet). But it left me asking myself: “Self, a lot of people are pinching pennies these days, isn’t there something we could do to help?”

“Well of course there is you dummy, we could drop the prices on Monkey Shake.” I said to myself.

“You know what, that’s a great idea!” I chimed in.

It was at this point I realized that everyone was staring at me. So I quickly hopped in my car and raced back to the office, where I marked down the prices on all our Monkey shake varieties and sizes.

As much as we would like to throw the doors wide open, set off some fireworks, and play a fanfare, we’ve encountered some technical limits on the extent to which we can test all our e-commerce systems prior to taking our first sale. Monkey Shake will be at the Madison Mini Marathon

As part of our soft opening, the Monkey Shake team will be running in the Madison Mini-Marathon this Saturday, August 20. Regrettably we won’t have any product with us since we’re not a race sponsor/partner and therefore have no place to stash goodies while we’re out on the course. All the same, if you’ll be in the area we’d love to meet you. Look for two crazy people wearing shirts that look like the one above.

Virgil Brigman back on the air

After a long hiatus, Monkey Shake is getting ready for a comeback.

For those who may have been unaware, the founder of the Monkey Shake brand, Chris Hughes, had to suspend sales a bit over a year ago when life events prevented him from continuing normal business operations. Unwilling to let a brand with a small but loyal following die, Chris sought out someone with an entrepreneurial spirit and the right kind of crazy to take over the helm. While I can’t vouch for the entrepreneurial-ism-ness (?), we’re definitely not short on the crazy, so we decided – ”Sign us up!”

We’ve been working hard over the past several weeks here at the new Monkey-Shake headquarters, retesting recipes, packaging, rebranding, and suffering through twenty different kinds of e-commerce configuration hell… But the finish is finally in sight – Or perhaps more appropriately, the staring line. We’ll be starting a soft opening on August 20, 2011 to shake out any remaining bugs before our grand re-opening on September 1.

If you’re an old-timer Monkey Shake aficionado, welcome back. We may have a new look and some new digs, but the Monkey Shake recipe is exactly the same. No worries. If you’re new to Monkey Shake, glad to have you, and we hope you’ll stick around.
